Method
Heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sweet red peppers, and cook until softened.
Stir in the tomato paste and red pepper paste, and cook for 2–3 minutes.
Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until almost fully browned.
Season with the salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder, then mix well.
Divide the beef into two portions in the skillet. Place 2 slices of American cheese over each portion and let the cheese melt completely.
While the cheese is melting, toast the hoagie rolls. Spread mayonnaise on one side of the roll and ketchup on the other.
Layer the shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, banana peppers, and French fries onto the roll.
Top with the cheesy ground beef, close the sandwich, and enjoy.
Dilruba’s tips
You may have some leftover beef depending on how full you make your sandwiches. Store any extras in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Feel free to customize your toppings with pickles, jalapeños, or your favorite sauce.
For the best flavor, let the cheese melt completely over the beef before assembling the sandwich.
Serve with fries, chips, or a simple salad for a complete meal.
